Article I
The Connecticut Career Consortium (CCC) provides state-wide leadership, advocacy, and education in support of career and experiential-learning opportunities for college students and alumni. We seek to:
• Increase/improve experiential learning opportunities for college students in CT
• Assist with attracting and retaining college educated CT residents (alumni)
• Help shape public policy related to career readiness and CT higher education
Article II
We believe in the value of collaboration, innovation, respect for the college educated population, fair and equal access to opportunity. We will:
• Promote strategic partnerships among and between member institutions
o Engaging vendors to provide consortium benefits
o Collaboration on initiatives between educational institutions and industry
• Cultivate professional development
o Professional development activities
o Sharing best practices around recruiting, hiring and retaining CT college students and alumni
• Promote research and related resources
o CT labor market trends related to the college educated population for the purpose of publication, sharing and advancing a common interest
• Advocate as the leading voice for the profession/authority on public policy
o Utilize current trends and research to inform legislators, business community, and the general public on college educated labor market
Article III
A corporation may have one or more classes of members. If it does, the designation of such classes, the manner of election or appointments, the duration of membership and the qualifications and rights, including voting rights, of the members of each class, may be set forth in the by-laws of the corporation or may be set forth below:
Application for voting membership shall be open to any current Connecticut career and experiential learning staff member or career-affiliated recruiters/human resources staff member. All members of the Connecticut Career Consortium will be eligible to vote for the Board of Directors. Members can attend all Connecticut Career Consortium events. Non-members can attend specified events and meetings, which will be designated as such.
Article IV
Other lawful provisions, if any, for the conduct and regulation of the business and affairs of the corporation, for its voluntary dissolution, or for limiting, defining, or regulating the powers of the corporation, or of its directors or members, or of any class of members, are as follows:
The number of Directors shall be fixed from time-to-time by the Directors but shall consist of no less than three (3) nor more than nine (9) including the following Chair positions:
• President (Research and Advocacy)
• VP - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
• VP - Professional Development (events)
• VP - Strategic Partnerships (fundraising)
• Secretary (marketing & communications)
• Treasurer (membership, finance, dues)
• Past President
One member of the Board of Directors shall be elected annually to serve as President and upon election will serve for an overall two-year term on the Board of Directors, serving first in the role of President for a term of two years, and automatically serving the following year in the role of Past President for a term of one year. Terms for all other members of the Board of Directors shall be for two years. Board of Directors members are limited to two consecutive terms in any given Board position. After two consecutive terms in the same position, Board of Directors members are not eligible for re-election to their current position. Term-limited Board members are welcome to seek election to different Board positions or return to the general membership. Members who have previously served two consecutive terms in a Board of Directors position may be re-elected to their previously held position provided at least one (1) annual election has been held since the end of their second consecutive term.
The members of the Board of Directors shall, upon election, immediately enter upon the performance of their duties and shall continue in office until their successors shall be duly elected and qualified. All members of the Board of Directors must be approved by a majority vote of the members via online voting. Nominations for the Board of Directors positions shall be submitted to the Secretary prior to the annual election. The Board of Directors must validate and approve the ballot prior to the start of voting. No ballot to vote on new members of the Board of Directors shall be approved unless a quorum of the Board of Directors is present.
No two members of the Board of Directors related by blood or marriage/domestic partnership within the second degree of consanguinity or affinity may serve on the Board of Directors at the same time.
Each member of the Board of Directors shall be a member of the Corporation whose membership dues are paid in full and shall hold office for up to two two-year terms as submitted by the Treasurer, who oversees membership, finances, and dues.
Each member of the Board of Directors shall attend at least four (4) monthly meetings of the Board per year.
Members of the Board of Directors shall adhere to all policies and procedures established by the Board. A Board Member may resign at any time by filing a written resignation with the President. If, in the judgement of the Board of Directors, a Board Member is unable to meet requirements of their individual role, a vote of 2/3 of the remaining Board Members may be called to remove the individual from their position. Such individual may remain a general member of the Connecticut Career Consortium. Should any Board of Directors member leave their Board position, by resignation or removal, a new election to fill their position will be called immediately to complete the remainder of the existing term. Anyone elected to fulfill a partial term shall be eligible for election to two full terms after the expiration of their partial term.
Article V
The by-laws of the corporation have been duly adopted and the initial directors, president, treasurer and clerk or other presiding, financial or recording officers, whose names are set out on the following page, shall be deemed to have been duly elected for the 2019-2020 term.
