Roles and Responsibilities

PRESIDENT

  • Leads Board of Directors

  • Collaborates with Secretary to set meeting agendas and serves as Chair of all meetings

  • Collaborates with the Board to develop and execute long-term vision for the Consortium

  • Monitors statewide, regional, and national labor market trends and career development research to guide association decision making and strategic planning

  • Serves as public representative of the Consortium as needed

  • Communicates on an ad hoc basis to the general membership

  • Leads research and advocacy efforts for the Consortium

VICE PRESIDENT - Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  • Works closely with fellow board members in our commitment to developing inclusive spaces through thoughtfully-executed programs and offerings

  • Provide leadership and oversight on equity-minded discussion topics and events, responding to inquiries related to inclusivity and accessibility

  • Strive towards member and visitor meaningful engagement.

  • Serve as the lead in progressive and thoughtful programming for all members and participants.

VICE PRESIDENT - Professional Development

  • Develops, coordinates, and oversees Consortium’s annual professional development conference ensuring the educational content is in alignment with CCC’s mission and professional development needs. 

  • Develops conference timeline, event print, and web materials.

  • Communicates the goals, plans, and progress of the professional development conference with the Board of Directors

  • Manage all conference event logistics, including the establishment of agenda, lining up appropriate presenters/speakers, space/room reservations, catering, and audiovisual needs. 

  • Analyzes and identifies professional development needs and evaluates and report on post-conference program effectiveness.

VICE PRESIDENT - Strategic Partnerships

  • Lead the group’s outreach and relationship development with employers, regional workforce development groups, governmental and civic affairs groups, and other related organizations for the express purpose of aligning the economic development missions of Connecticut universities and the state business community.                                                                                                                                                                                                           

  • Set the goals and strategy for strategic partnerships, identifies potential partners, and leads the outreach to develop new relationships and initiatives.

  • Connect state organizations with member schools to influence state policy on workforce development, engage employer organizations, and design collaborative employer engagement opportunities amongst the member schools.

TREASURER

  • Accountable for the fulfillment of the financial management duties and responsibilities of the Consortium.

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and its presentation to the organization for review.

  • Ensure that the board regularly monitors the organization’s financial performance and alerts it to any important discrepancies between planned and actual figures.

  • Ensure that the organization maintains the appropriate financial books and records and that these are accurate and up-to-date.

  • Verify that membership payments and records are handled adequately and are accounted for in financial records and databases.

  • Act as the primary contact and manager of the organization's bank account.

SECRETARY

  • Manages marketing and communications efforts for the Consortium

  • Communicate to membership through emails promoting events, sharing resources and assist with promotion and sharing of events

  • Record meeting minutes and distribute minutes to membership following each meeting

  • Update and post on Consortium’s LinkedIn group page with useful content and resources for membership

  • Recruit Connecticut colleges and universities for future membership to the Consortium

  • Executes yearly elections/nominations and reports the results to membership and the Board of Directors
